Propose an International Experience

Proposal Timelines and Procedures

The ideal timeline for approvals is 12-18 months in advance of the term you are proposing to go abroad, as this allows adequate time for the approval process, planning and recruitment. An outline of priority and final deadlines per term can be found below:

If the experience is to be offered during: Submit proposal by:
Winter Break (Dec / Jan January 31 of previous year
Spring March 1 of previous year
Summer May 1 of previous year

Procedure

  1. Read the Guide to Faculty-Led Study-Abroad
  2. Submit a paper copy of the complete approval packet to Education Abroad
  3. Email a scanned electronic copy of the complete approval packet to educationabroad@csn.edu

A complete approval packet includes:

  • Completed Faculty-Led Study Abroad Request for Approval Form
  • Completed Budget & any supporting documents (contracts, proposals, etc.)
  • Signed Academic Endorsements from Faculty Leader, Department Chair and Dean before submission
    • Experiences with two faculty proposing from different departments require signatures from both department chairs and deans
    • If Honors designation, a signature is required by the Honors Program and the faculty member’s home department

After Approval

  1. Participate in the Spring Faculty Leader Workshop (Risk Management/Budget Training)
  2. Hold at least 1 Pre-Departure Orientation for students prior to departure
  3. Submit other documentation such as finalized contracts, personnel application, and final destination details.
