Experience Types

The main types of international experiences that students can take part in are Faculty-led international experiences and University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) programs.

Faculty-Led International Experiences

Generally short term in nature, averaging at 2 weeks overseas, these experiences are led by CSN professors and offer CSN credit. Students pay CSN tuition as normal, as well as the cost of the international experience.

USAC Programs

USAC is an NSHE based program founded in part out of UNLV over 40 years ago. Students have the option to take part in one of two types of programs.

UNLV Credit Programs

Also called Specialty Programs, these experiences offer course that have been reviewed and approved by the appropriate department at UNLV. Students seeking to use said credit at CSN need to go have their classes evaluated prior to departure.

Transfer Credit Programs

Also called Partnership Programs, these experiences provide students with international credit directly from the host institution overseas. As such, at the end of their experience students will receive an official transcript directly from their host institution that can then be evaluated for transfer credit.

Regardless of which program type is selected, students should select a wide range of courses before departure and work clsely with their academic advisors to determine what classes to take overseas.
